Scarf

As you know I started and did lots of things while I was in Lincoln and this is one of them. Jodie was practicing her knitting and I needed to practice my pearl stitch if I am going to knit some socks. So she gave me a skein of yarn so I could make this scarf and practice too. I have about finished the skein and the scarf is not quite long enough so I am going to add a black tail on it but it may have to wait till I get back from Florida as we leave tomorrow to drive to Pensacola.

Oh the warm sunny land of Florida after this long winter I am so going to enjoy the sunshine.

Ice, Ice

If you were reading very closely when I posted pictures of Jodie's Open Studio then you saw that I had started out on Saturday to learn to make a Cellini Spiral in seed beads. Well I did and I have and this is the results of my first pieces.
The necklace and bracelet set are called Ice, Ice and is aptly named since I was working on it over the weekend when we had more snow.
I even made some earrings to match.

Okay so Thursday our official temperature was 93 degrees and this is what we got up to this morning. It is already starting to melt but really enough is enough!

Pretty Colors!

These are the pretty new beads that I got on the way home from Lincoln the other day. I stopped in Omaha to have lunch with my friend Mary and we went to International Bead Market. It is funny but before I left home I knew I wanted to buy those lime green beads on the end but man I just love all those tubes of beads and had to have some for my collection.
This is a cute little pincushion that Jodie made and gave me and I forgot to show you when I was taking pictures of my nice clean beading table. I put all my beading needles in it that I had been sticking in my mat.

Pandora

I told you Jodie and I did a lot of shopping while I was in Lincoln and one of the things I have been wanting is a Pandora bracelet to show off my big hole beads and let me change my bracelet out with new beads every day if I want. Well I put on a bunch of my new Jamaica series spacers and low and behold it is too tight so I have to send it back and get a longer one. Was kind of afraid of that when I got it. I do just love my porcupine bead though and I think he should have a name but have not figured one out yet.

My New Cabinet

Before

As I told you we did lots of things while I was in Lincoln and shopping was one of them. I even emailed my hubby and warned him that I was fast filling up that giant truck of mine. On Thursday Jodie and I went to a wild garage sale. Wild because you could not move for the people in the garage they were every where it was shoulder to shoulder and you could hardly move. I spied this great cabinet just before Jodie did or it would have been hers and I did offer to let her have it although I was sure glad she said no. It has four doors and four shelves and is sitting in this picture ready to be filled up. We did have to take the flimsy legs off of it and then I put it on a slight platform so that the doors would clear the carpet but man it is going to hold a lot of beads and supplies. Now for the best part it cost me a whopping $20 I was so pleased I could go garage sale shopping there every weekend.

After

I even managed to clean off my work table and it all looks neat and clean. I also got a printer tray from Mona and as I have not decide where or exactly how I will use it yet I am letting it be a decoration on my new cabinet. Maybe I will even do some beading tomorrow.

Jodie's Open Studio

Well the party was just great but we all forgot to take any pictures. So I took a bunch of pictures on Saturday when when had bead time. Cyd is still wearing her fancy dress from the party because we stayed up so late the night before. Here she is looking at Jodie's beads from her reject jar. All the gals were having so much fun going through that jar.
Here Cyd is helping me chose beads to make a Cellini Spiral which I had never made before and wanted to learn how to do.
Here are Christina, Kim, and Donna working away.
And this is Mona, Jodie, and Kathy also working away.

I have so many things to show you and tell you from the weekend but I will have to make a list because I can not think of them right now. And of course there are still lots of things to put away here at home so I had better get back to work.

Studio 49 Open Studio

I am headed out the door this morning to head for Lincoln, NE to my friend Jodie Marshall's official opening of her new Studio 49. We have all kinds of things planned for while I am there. Lots of crafty shopping and visiting as well as the studio opening and group beading. I also get to go to the Nebraska Bead Society meeting while I am there so I will be having loads of fun. Just wish it were a little less of a drive. Living in the middle of no where does have it's disadvantages. Have a great week and I will try to post when I can.

Amy's Bracelet

I know it seems like I have fallen off the face of the planet. I haven't though just been really busy this past week. When I have been in the studio I have been making spacers for my friend Amy from Amy's Creative Beads. This is her bracelet that she made up while we were in Omaha at the Bead Bazaar. She wanted a bunch more of the spacers to decorate these jump ring bracelets that she makes so I have been very busy.

I have also been doing a lot of oil filtering. Some of you know I have a truck that runs on vegetable oil. Well that oil when it comes used from the restaurants is nasty and full of yucky stuff and has to be filtered. It has been such a long cold winter that my reserve is way down because it has been just too cold to filter, so the last few days since it started to warm up we have been working 55 gallon batches every afternoon. Very messy and very tiring but very environmentally friendly.

Beaded Beads

My friend Jodie Marshall was showing off her beaded beads from a few years back the other day and so I thought I would get mine out and show you. These are about 5 years old. Playing with them while taking the picture made me want to make some more. Will have to find some time.

Julie's other Necklace

Here is Julie's other necklace. I especially like the silver wire spikes she used with this one. She actually got these spikes from me a year ago and had the necklace all made up but thought the center needed more so she took it all apart and redid it and still had them both done by Monday. Such a busy lady.

Customer's Work

The Omaha Bead Bazaar is over and I am home. And I already have pictures of work from a customer that had special ordered some pastel colored spikes from me. This is Julie Overbey's creation. She got real busy Sunday after the show Saturday, no moss grows under her feet. While I was driving home she was creating this beautiful piece. We had trouble with the photo files so maybe tomorrow I will show you her red and black one it is a beauty as well.

Cyd's new furnature.

I forgot I had not shown you Cyd's new furniture. While we were in Minneapolis our vendor neighbor and friend, Pat Thielman from Fairhill Designs, brought Cyd some new furniture. The wardrobe is so wonderful to hold all the new outfits and jewelry, and Cyd seems to think that now that she has this great bench she can nap all the time. I am so jealous.

We are headed out in the morning for Omaha NE to the Bead Bazaar on Saturday. It is held at the Westside Community Center just off Center and 108th. So come on out and see us if you are in the area.
